1) Create your account

  1. Go to lyriclingo.org and choose “Sign Up”.
  2. Enter your email and set a password. You can add an optional username later for the leaderboard.

Tip: You don’t need an account to browse, but you’ll want one to save words, see your history, and quiz yourself.

2) Pick a plan (pricing at a glance)

Tier 1 £0.99/mo
5 translations/month
Great for casual brush-ups.
Tier 2 £4.99/mo
30 translations/month
Ideal for setlists or steady study (~6,000 words/month).
Tier 3 £9.99/mo
Unlimited translations
For power users and polyglots.

3) Find the perfect song

Hit Search and type an artist, track, language, or genre. You’ll see results you can open as a lyrics page. Smart search supports multiple languages (with transliteration where helpful).

Example: “I’m visiting China later this month, so I’ll search my favourite Chinese song.” Pick the best match from the results.

4) Translate, play, and explore the lyrics

On the lyrics page you can:

  • Play the song alongside the text (YouTube/Spotify integration).
  • Translate line-by-line with context-aware AI for accurate meaning.
  • Switch target language any time (by default it follows your account/device settings).

5) Learn deeply on the page

Two core ways to learn while you read:

  • Line Analysis tab — see key terms, cultural context, and literary devices for each line. Add new or tricky items to your vocabulary with one click.
  • Inline word lookups — click a word to see definitions and pronunciation.

6) Build your vocabulary & quiz yourself

Open Vocabulary to review saved words and your recent songs. Start a quiz in two ways:

  • Saved words quiz — flashcard-style drills built from your personal list.
  • Song-based quiz — test yourself on a specific translated song.

You can keep up with daily, unlimited quizzes personalized from your saved items. (The site highlights vocab saving and AI-generated quizzes; recommendations by language/genre are in beta.)

7) Recommended use flow (5 minutes/day)

  1. Search a song you love in your target language.
  2. Play & read with line-by-line translation; switch target language if needed.
  3. Save unfamiliar words/phrases as you go.
  4. Skim Line Analysis for cultural notes and devices.
  5. Quiz yourself (saved words or the song you just studied).

What LyricLingo does for you (quick recap)

  • Translate lyrics into your chosen language.
  • Granular, context-aware definitions + transliteration.
  • History & song revisits from your account.
  • Save words to your personal vocabulary.
  • AI quizzes on saved words or any translated song.

Choosing the right tier

  • Casual refresher abroad? Tier 1 is cheap and cheerful.
  • Actively learning a new language? Tier 2’s ~30 songs/month (≈6,000 words) supports real momentum.
  • Living in lyrics? Tier 3 removes limits so you can study freely.

Limitations & smart tips

  • Song fit & difficulty: Fast or slang-heavy tracks can overwhelm beginners; start slower and ramp up.
  • Grammar in songs: Poetic license bends rules—use it as a teachable moment.
  • Pronunciation: Singing ≠ normal speech; supplement with clear audio when needed.
  • Speaking practice: Songs boost listening/reading & vocab; pair with conversation for fluency.
